Guide
Rate limits
Per-key limits, the headers to watch and how to back off.
Limits are applied per credential, and per IP for public unauthenticated endpoints. Each response carries the remaining allowance:
X-RateLimit-Remaining: 118
Exceeding the limit returns HTTP 429 with code RATE_LIMITED. Retry with exponential backoff and jitter; do not retry in a tight loop. Limits fail closed, so a limiter outage slows you down rather than letting traffic through unchecked.
If your volumes need a higher ceiling, raise it with your account team rather than sharding across keys.
